Tim and I have never been “beach people.”  We would prefer a good hiking trail or a walk through a brand new city over a vacation at the beach.  That was until we went to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Sea of Cortez

Tim and I spent a four day weekend here in 2009, on an Overachiever Trip for Tim meeting his sales numbers with AGI.  Our hotel was the Hilton Los Cabos, which was phenomenal.  Great food, an endless pool, white sandy beaches, well appointed rooms, and whale watching from the outdoor restaurants makes this one of my favorite hotels.  At the time Tim and I were training for triathlons so going for daily swims in the crystal clear waters of the Sea of Cortez was like paradise.

Tim and I spent a morning on our own, kayaking out to Lover’s Beach. Later in the day AGI rented a catamaran which we took out to the same point, enjoying dinner and drinks.

Lover’s Beach is one of the most popular spots to visit while in Cabo San Lucas. To get here, you need some sort of floating transportation. You can either take the water taxi from the marina or rent a kayak.

Nightlife in Cabo San Lucas

We ended the day with yet another big reason to go to Cabo San Lucas…partying in the town of Cabo San Lucas.  Tim and I went to Cabo Wabo Cantina, a bar built by Sammy Hagar.  We have always been fans of his tequila, Cabo Wabo, and where better to enjoy it than in Sammy Hagar’s bar in Mexico!

San Jose del Cabo

Later in the weekend Tim and I spent an afternoon wandering around the small, laid back town of San Jose del Cabo.  This was a spot less visited by tourists than Cabo San Lucas, which is why we liked it here.  Tim and I did a little window shopping, browsed through art galleries, and snacked on Mexican food.

We spent the rest of the weekend lounging by the pool or on the beach, enjoying tropical drinks and the warm, salty air.  Cabo San Lucas…some day we will be back!
